Description:
Star Trek: Lower Decks

Got into this show last year, and have been greatly enjoying it. It is so ludicrously silly, yet still manages to hit some solid sci-fi plots, emotional moments, and somehow maintains canon and continuity.

The plot is, essentially, the daily lives of four ensigns on one of the most insignificant ships in the fleet, the "California-class" USS Cerritos.

Beckett Mariner hasn't always been an ensign, and in fact has been promoted and demoted numerous times. The Cerritos is her final chance before possibly being drummed out of Starfleet.

Brad Boimler is extremely eager to impress his superior officers and be promoted. He's massively focused on being "by the book", but has a habit of over-thinking things and being a nervous wreck.

D'Vana Tendi, a medical officer, is one of the few Orions in Starfleet, and is an eternal optimist and science geek. As the series progresses, more is discovered about her Orion heritage and why she left.

Sam Rutherford is an eager up-and-coming Engineer, and equals Tendi in his geekery over science. His supposed Vulcan cybernetic implant has mysterious origins.

The supporting cast includes the bridge crew, helmed by Captain Freeman, First Officer Ransom, Chief of Security Shaxs, and Chief Medical Officer Dr. T'Ana. All with their own unique quirks and strengths.

Shit. Just announced the upcoming fifth season will be the last. I just know it'll leave me wanting more, much like the third season of The Orville did.

I never knew the lives of Klingon bloodwine farmers could make for such a good episode... well, at least, the A plot. The unrelated B plot of that episode was one of the series' worst.

When it was announced that the fifth season would be the last, I feared it wouldn't be enough lead-time for them to have a proper finale.

Fear unfounded. Great final episode. ...and for the penultimate episode, they had pulled out all the stops on getting an INCREDIBLE lineup of legacy actors from prior entries in the Trek universe to reprise their roles.
