#1, It was fun. My R5's handling is pretty peculiar: oversteer at corner entry, gelly-wobbly-jerky-zigg-zaggy neutral at apex and severe understeer at exit. When I LFB at that point the car almost anchors itself (engine is too weak and/or my braking too hard) and I exit the corner sputtering at, like, minus 5 mph.
Notes to self: enter the corner slowly or countersteer early to prevent the slide form getting to deep thus ruining the rest of the corner (I need more practice to test those soultions). The latter would probably yield better times since my car is extremely underpowered but... it's boring! What I really need to do is to upgrade the suspension. But there are so much things that need to be fixed first :( |

#2, the corner handling prolly has to do with wieght transfer throughout the corner. As for the engine to weak or braking to hard, it might be both. |

#4, I know this but the transitions are so harsh and sudden. I never drove (hard) a car so small and light so maybe it's simply a matter of getting used to it. For now I noticed it's very tossable and even though it's FWD I have to be really smooth with the controls. |

slow in/fast out is the best way to get around a simple corner. the oversteer on entry is probably from the weight transfer of braking too hard. brake earlier and let the chassis settle so that way the car isnt nose down when entering. and who edited SubMarinas post? |

#6, Must have been a mod since there is not trace left (I mean the "Edited by... etc." sign).
89Rettagt, I know the theory... but execution always differs. It's not that smooth and simple. But this is why I practice: to get it right.
Interesting fact: my buddy has a completely different car, 30hp and 300kg more, a lot better stability (51739). This coupled to his driving style makes the car enter the corner in beautiful, smooth four wheel drifts and exit in slight understeer. My times were a second off his. Lets forget about the equipment (a very ricey excuse) and focus on driving style. Before the R5 I drove a much larger and more stable car: Fiat Tipo. It was pretty similar my my friend's Audi. I needed a good LFB on corner entry to kill understeer (I'm talking about loose surfaces here) and enter in nice controlled slide. Without the LFB the car pulled off an efficient fourwheel drift but quickly returned to understeer. cont. |

#7, In other words: for 5 years I drove a very stable car that needed destabilising to turn on loose surfaces, now I'm driving a very unstable car that needs stabilising. I hope I make sense. |
