I'd probably like the wheels more if they were more than just a thick-five-spoke design... I think I'd prefer a more intricate design with this style of finish...

That said, I'd still much prefer gunmetal/powerdercoated.

Same. With the arrival of the new generation, I am starting to not totally hate these.

#2, I liked this gen of the E-class the moment it first came out, and, if anything, I like it even more now.

Mercedes is starting to put very oddly-styled rear fenders on their cars... one of the reasons I'm not terribly fond of the current E-class, or the next-gen CLS...

#3, It's "retro". I doubt that anyone buying a Benz today gives a crap that Mercedes had pontoon fenders in the '50s.

#3, Same. It seems once the "current generation" seems okay to most, the car is redesigned, and made uglier. I bet in 2013/2014, we'll all like the 2011 E-class :/

#4, Heritage-influenced retro design touches only work when they're properly aesthetically implemented...

Just putting pontoon fenders on a vehicle with otherwise unrelated styling is shit.

#6, it worked well enough for Mercedes that Chevy did the same to their Impala. And then slapped on VW Passat taillights and give it vaguely VW esque front end.
