So, my brother-in-law seems deadset on getting a brand new Focus RS... but it looks like there are massive supply problems, compounded by the fact that dealers are charging thousands above sticker for the ones they've been allocated (i.e. haven't been delivered yet)... We've tried going over his options... he wants either a wagon, hatchback, or coupe, that can do 0-60 in less than 5 seconds, and has either AWD or RWD... but isn't a heavy mofo, either. He has a long history with SCCA autocrosses. ...I'm trying to convince him to take a look at a V60 Polestar... but, it looks like his "backup" plan would be an AMG CLA45 4Matic...

V60 Polestar aren't cheap. They're about $60,000 if he buys new. I know its FWD but has he considered a Focus ST?

#2, 0-60: 6.3 seconds... no. For him, it's 4.8 or bust. A Focus RS, with the options he wants, and the inevitable dealer markup, wouldn't be terribly dissimilar in price from the AMG CLA nor a V60 Polestar...

He's made up his mind that he'll either buy $40-60k new, or <$10k used... he's skittish about spending big bucks on a used high-performance car... with a cheap, used high-performance car, there's plenty of money left over to fix things the previous owner may have thrashed.

He put his order in... 2017 BMW M2 coupe. He takes delivery in March.

#10, ...and he's still waiting. His order kept getting delayed, but now the dealer has confirmed with BMW that his car is scheduled for production the first week of July... which actually means his M2 will be a "2018" model year vehicle... in fact, by all accounts, it appears his M2 will most likely be produced on the FIRST DAY of production for 2018MY, which could result in an extremely low VIN.
