I've never seen one that looks quite like this. Maybe I'm used to seeing the earlier models.

Eh, nm, I'm thinking of the Tercel 4WD wagons. I just flat-out never see these.

Y'know, the Japanese economy has been in the shitter since the early '90s... about the time their cars stopped being interesting... sure some neat cars from Japan were being produced and hung around up until the early 2000s... but by then, it no longer looked effortless for Japanese companies to produce stand-out vehicles...

...now it looks like they put waaaaay too much effort into producing their cars. Nothing they make is just "simply neat"... it's either boring and cynical as hell, or amazing but costly.

Producing neat cars is almost an emotional experience... with the "lost decade(s)" that Japan is experiencing, economically, the optimism and overall joy just aren't there to influence their auto industry anymore.

Yes, their cars are still some of the best in the world, but nothing really unique nor groundbreaking about them anymore.

I mean, look at the new and old NSX... old one? Honda was having a helluva good time in Formula One, and they wanted to make a vehicle that could challenge Ferrari, but for a third of the price and surprising reliability... there was no decade-long lead-up to it. They just, boom, released it, and it was a game-changer. It showed that we no longer had to accept that exotic cars were temperamental nor flimsy.

The new NSX? Over a decade of teasing and broken promises. It's supposedly *finally* going into production... but is it impactful on the market? No. It's just... there.
