As much as I pined for these when they were new... hell, I still love the idea of the Protégé5, they really are horrid rustbuckets, aren't they?

Mazdas in general are. I've see a few 2009+ 3s with rear quarter and bottom hatch rust. :/

#2, Mazda2 doesn't seem to be this rust prone, though....and I should know. I'm treating the bike the same way, and it's corroding WAYYYY worse than the Demio...

#3, Hmm give it a couple years. :/ I see rusty RX8s on the daily, and I've seen my fair share of rusty first-generation 6s as well :/

Like I said, Mazdas here, generally get about 7-10 years old before they start becoming immensely beaterish.

I think the worst case I've seen is a first-generation 3 sedan with bottom of trunk rusted through all the way across, both rear fenderwells chewed through, and leading edge of hood done for.
