With news that ALL 911 Porsches will be going to turbocharged-power, and rumors that they will get AWD as standard (with a few exceptions in the higher echelons of the track-focused models), I wonder if it's time to bring back the 912?

Imagine the beauty of the 911's body, but the lighter, simpler powertrain from the Boxster/Cayman? (...and, maybe, at the same time, simplify some of the styling details like these ludicrously complicated lighting fixtures/bezels?)

With Porsche going independent (seen likely, with the VW scenario), that could/might happen. I doubt it would be called a 912. Maybe another model line between the Boxster/Cayman twins and the 911 line.
