Description:
Facelifted 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage.

I would mock, but I must admit this is a notable improvement over the prior two fascias.

I'm not sure what to think. It looks okay, but the wheels and grille definitely don't say "American market car".

#1, That may be, but I posted this because I saw one in person, out on the street. I was actually very impressed with how halfway-decent it looked.

Well, the front-end, at least.

The restyled taillights on these, at night, are actually pretty nice, too.

Mitsubishi is doing a reasonably admirable job of polishing this turd.

I can't remember the last time I saw a late-model Mitsubishi; we haven't had a dealer around here in probably 15 years. I keep forgetting they still build cars.

The local Mitsubishi dealer added a Hyundai franchise about 15 years ago and still operate to this day. For that reason, there are still plenty of newer Mirages and Outlanders running around. Despite being outdated, uncompetitive vehicles, their recent design refreshes are actually quite handsome, IMO. More than can be said about a lot of *other* manufacturers' design directions lately.

#4, The day after I posted that, I went to a new store that just opened north of Meridian, and ended up parking next to a metallic red, late model Mirage.

I've come to a personal conclusion, perhaps one that could be considered way off base, but...

The current Mitsubishi Mirage is the modern equivalent of the Yugo.

It's a cheap, CHEAP car, built in an economically-disadvantaged area, with questionable build-quality and reliability, that is quite outdated and uncompetitive on the market, but is actually reasonably handsome and decent to drive.

I still respect the Yugo more than this thing, though.

To be fair, I never understood the hate. Every person I know that has one has had a trouble-free experience. I know a fair number of people who use these as winter cars and have 100k+ on them without hiccups. Ditto the Outlander Sport, as well.
