Got my CDL learner's permit last week, so I've been allowed "out into the wild" as of late, and it's been nothing but fun.

#3, All my opinions on OTR rigs are essentially based on the aesthetics... I do wonder if one marque is superior to others in some respects... reliability, comfort, NVH, ease of use, etc...

#5, Those two Volvos are pretty gutless compared to the red International just out of frame on the right. You can put the pedal to the floor and they'll struggle to do 50 uphill, and the one, on top of all that, lost it's clutch with 200K on the clock, meanwhile, the International despite being twice as old with over a million miles on it will do 70 with the same amount of throttle. Never got any road time in the Kenworth, just lot work, and I liked it, but, it's in the shop for inspection and they found something that's going to require extra work, so it's not coming back before I'll have graduated. The Freightliner, I didn't care at all for it, maybe it's just the way it is, maybe it's the way they all are, but I never got a smooth shift out that thing's transmission for the one day I practiced on it, so I'm permanently gunshy about it. (which is odd because they all have the same Eaton 10 speed, they in theory should not behave different... but whatever)

#5, They are all equally shit, ancient technology with emissions bandaids lol, and honestly there isnt much different between trucks other than engines. they're just a big frame with engines, electrics and drive axles. sure some engines are better than the other. but interiors are all superficial. seats are generally all universally swappable for comfort. so meh, theres no good or bad trucks. just trucks. its all just work lol

#7, If that's the case, I don't understand some of the tribalism I see from some segments of the trucker world... those that'll only drive a certain marque.

Now, having toured the Mack plant in Allentown years and years ago, I know they're a bit unique in that they (at the time, at least), manufactured everything in the truck, from the frame, to the cab, to the drivetrain/engine/transmission.
