Description:
In the interest of saving money per month, I have traded the Camaro in on something significantly more practical and less exciting: A 2020 Toyota Camry LE, in the fetching color of "I Can't Find It In a Parking Lot" Grey.

Looked it up, and it supposedly accelerates faster than my CX-3. That's reasonably speedy :)

It may be on the mundane portion of the automotive spectrum, but it will always do everything you want it to do and come back for more every time.

I'd ask the odometer reading, but, honestly, even if it has a huge number like 100,000 on the clock, it'll still have at least another 200,000 to give, easily.

#1, It's at around 76,300. That's quite a bit more than I wanted for something I'm financing for six years, but it's still less than the 107,600 the Camaro was at before trade-in, and as you say, these are famous for lasting long.

The horsepower is actually about the same as both of my turbo Hyundais, but it's much more responsive, being a non-turbo. The automatic transmission is a bit of a bummer, but at least it's a regular automatic (8 speed) instead of a CVT.

My favorite part of the car so far? Storage. Little cubbies here and there, a big trunk, and the center console is practically big enough to fit another car in.

#2, You're essentially driving the absolute best a car can be, in terms of livability. Its combination of space efficiency, comfort, refinement, and ease of use. It's about the best you can get without spending thousands upon thousands more for a luxury branded sedan.

Nice car. I like these a lot. I know it sounds weird, but how does it drive?!

#4, The engine is actually pretty toey. Nowhere near the Camaro, natch, but comparable to the Genesis or Elantra, with better throttle response.Good brakes, too.

Steering a bit numb, and strangley the car rides a little rougher than the Camaro. Much better visibility, though, and easier to park. The interior is better, though the seats themselves are less comfortable.

#5, Oh nice. Toey? Never heard that before. I can't remember, is it a 2.4?

#6, "Toey" is Aussie slang meaning "nervous," but was used in "Mad Max" to describe the V8 interceptor that The Night Rider had stolen in the beginning. I always think of raucous or quick cars as "toey" now; I can't help it.

This is a 2.5.

#5, Would have thought a Camry would be tuned for a comfortable ride. To be harsher than a Camaro is surprising.

Admittedly, my BMW rides much smoother and more comfortably than the CX-3, but, the CX-3 is an entry-level subcompact, so of course it has a cheaper suspension setup.

I dunno, man the previous generation Camry always erred on the side of sporty, at least to me. I actually like them a lot. Not driven one though I have driven a 2015-2017 model, and i found it alright.

#8, I might've expected it out of the sporting-oriented SE, but it's pretty surprising in the LE. The ride quality is similar to my mother's 2024 Altima SR, which in turn rides rougher than her previous 2020 Altima S.

#10, I wonder if all the Camrys are tuned for sportiness now?

#11, If that's the case, it may be to further differentiate the Camry from its Lexus brethren and/or encourage those seeking a cushier ride to move up to the Crown.

#12, That would make sense, honestly. I haven't been in a new Camry yet, but the 2025s are all hybrids. Actually, I think most new Toyotas going forward will be big on the hybrid front. Coincidentally, I am/ may be looking for a Camry too and for similar reasons (mainly insurance reasons, unfortunately.)
