Description:
Indian-market Standard 2000.

They had licensed the body of the SD1 from British Leyland, but not the Rover V8 engine. It was powered by a Standard Vanguard 2L straight-4 that dated back to the late '40s.

Apparently, build-quality was somehow even worse than that of SD1s built by BL in Britain.

Coupled with a "cranky" 4-speed manual transmission, its performance was predictably abysmal, with the car barely able to push past 80mph. The ancient nature of the engine was also its downfall, as its fuel economy fell short of recently-introduced government standards at the time, forcing the car our out of production, and Standard Motors of India out of business.

Given that the styling on these was inspired by the 365 Daytona, just drop in a Colombo V12. Problem solved!

#2, I imagine that would have twisted that poor little four-speed into a pretzel and melted those skinny little tires :P
