I don't like it when arguments start going this way, to me, you can't compare European and American "performance" cars, they're apples and oranges, Euros are made to cruise, Americans are made to chirp tires and burnout, to each his own.

which proves that there is no replacement for displacement.

IF your goal is low end torque, then yes, it's all in the displacement and compression ratios, and M3 is right, a car set up for such specs will lose in the long run to one that doesn't have the neck-snapping acceleration, but has top end speed.

A buddy of mine's Cousin had a tripped out 80' Camaro with a BB in it. He had a ten dollar bill taped up on the very front of the dash, he told his passengers that if they could reach it within 5 seconds of him pulling away from a red, they could have it. No one was ever able to get it :-)

Big Blocks (BB) are V8's with a total displacement of I think 396 cubic inches or more, below that, it's a Small Block (SB) BB's were standard equipment in the big passenger cars of the 60's and 70's caddys, Lincolns, fords, and when thier engines were put into smaller sized cars, (Mustangs, Camaros) presto, instant muscle car. They all but died out by the 80's as BB's were discontinued becuase they sucked at fuel mileage and low emissions. You can still buy one from the factory as a "crate" engeine, but it's cheaper to find an old car with one in it.

the term "big block" denotes the actual dimensions of the block, not the cubic inches. Back in the day, they got the v8 engine blocks in two sizes, unbored. small and big. then they built motors around them. they still do it like that. It's possible to have a 427 small block or a 327 big block, it's just a matter of how you set it up.

old school speed, just to let you kno, the SMG M3 does 0-60 in 4.5 stock and runs a 13.1. The transmission shifts in 80 miliseconds, twice as fast as the Ferrari 360 Modena and 10 miliseconds slower then the F1 cars. its incredible........talk about torque, it'll give ya whiplash

No offense, AC but even if they come stock with those bumper covers, the Bavarian Motor Works does not make an engine that needs that much air. It's all cosmetic to appease the ricer trend, just like American companies do.

lol, ok you must not kno shit then........this is consider to be the best 6 cylinder out in the world today.......it has 333hp, it needs air man, no matter what you say. This engine in this car is remarkable. Oh and what about a BMW V12, or V8, i suppose they don't need that much air either eh?

i'm goin with AC here, this isn't rice in my book, the bumper is not extreem but goes with the cars lines, and as long as its got the power to back up the looks its all good
