Duel. The first full-length movie directed by Steven Spielberg.

He says he watches it every now and then to remind him of the fundamentals of good movies. And my favorite scene has to be him trying to get the Valiant up the steep hill at the end with the radiator blown out, that's a white knuckler.

THe best part is they never tell you exactly what causes the Trucker to go ballistic, he just decides to take this little guy down. That's the real scary part

I have a theory that David Mann's wife set him up, because when he first calls her, she immediately asks, "What's wrong? Did you have an accident?" So, I think the driver was hired by his wife, not crazy.

Just his shoes at the very end. Love all the symbolism, Mr. Mann, (i.e. he could be any man, even you) With the sparkly clean car, up against the huge soot-spewing muddy brown monster rig, it's spooky indeed.

No, they show his shoes near the beginning, and a few shots of his elbow, forearm, and hand throughout the movie.

They do show the trucker VERY briefly in one scene when the car passes him. If you freeze the picture, you can see him. He's wearing a tan cowboy hat (but I still can't quite make his face out). Also, in the end, is that blood or oil dripping from the steering wheel? I never can tell.

I think that's intentional...you don't know what is dripping off the steering wheel...

one thing that bothered me about the part i saw was that car pretty much maxed out at 80...to me that seems really slow but that's just because i have a Mustang that can break 100.

He reaches 100 in one part of the movie, then crashes through a fence (that's one of the biggest problems with the movie--he passes that sign that says "7 miles to Chuck's Cafe, and then about 10 minutes at 100 mph passes before he reaches it. That's a long 7 miles).

The speedo is just a prop for suspense, if you look, there are about a dozen times where it doesn't match up with the speed the scenery is passing at. Like near the end, it reads low like 15 or 20mph, but outside, the trees are going by at at least 30MPH

it was a windy road... =P i did see up to where he left the cafe but i never saw the speedo go over 80 or so...but i'll take your word for it.
