Terry Labonte announced he's gonna retire from full-time competition at the end of the year, and run 10 races each in 2005 and 2006, in this car. His last race will be Texas 2006, which makes sense, Texas being his home state.

They guy has over 800 starts in Cup and 2 championships (1984 driving the 44 Piedmont Airlines car, and 1996 driving the 5 Kellogg's car, which had the paintscheme that this car's scheme is based on)

:-(. Even though I haven't paid attention to NASCAR much lately, I am still pretty sad. I liked him when I did watch NASCAR.

#3, Don't forget Rudd and Schrader...
Rudd says he's not given one thought to retirement, but knows he can't race for more than 5 more years...
...and Schrader said he'll stay in Cup as long as his BAM Racing 49 team has a sponsor...but he won't completely retire in any case... he'll keep racing his Craftsman Truck, and his dirt cars...
Haven't heard anything about Jarrett.

#3, Word is fact now. Mark Martin just announced that 2005 will be his last year of running the entire Cup season...but he's not calling it a retirement...he'll keep racing, but just not as often, and may try Craftsman Truck Series racing also.

Well, Rudd will be "taking a break" from racing after 2005...i.e., retirement, but with leaving the door open for part-time racing until he REALLY wants to retire.
