My father once told me that once a car has run a certain amount of miles on leaded gas, enough of the lead and crap has built up in the engine that it's OK to run on unleaded gas.

He coulda just been yankin' my chain though.

#4, The leaded coating on the valve heads would last for a year or two. Under heavy loads, it would burn off a lot quicker.
