Description:
I've mentioned the shop up the road from me several times, as well as the owner's extensive collection of junked cars (especially VWs). However, apart from his '69 Chevelle, I've never posted any pics of the place. Well, here they are. A ton of crappy but interesting photos are to follow.

Behind and to the side of the shop is the junkyard, which when I often went walking in back when I worked here. At the edge of the yard is one of the few non-VWs, in this case a second generation Corvair.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...corvairside.jpg

Back of the same. It was last registered in 1994. It has a Rush hospital parking permit, so it probably belonged to a nurse.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0.../corvairass.jpg

A typical scene from the yard. Lots of trees, weeds, and Volkswagens.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...4/lotsabugs.jpg

An old T-boned Super Beetle propped up on some rusty wheel rims. Apparently the suspension was cannibalized recently.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...superbeetle.jpg

More non-VWs: An early '90s Cavalier and the remains of a '69-'70 Chevy truck.

Apparently this one wasn't "Tuff" enough. Tag expired in March of 1991.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...onalizedtag.jpg

CAN'T ANYONE SPELL "TOUGH" ANYMORE? From a not-that-bad-looking Isuzu P'up, a recent addition to the yard.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...zuPupinyard.jpg

An early ('70 or '71) Super Beetle panel beater.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...eaterbeetle.jpg

Quite a few Type IIIs in the yard, surprisingly. I like this one just for the cool '70s paint scheme.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...nkadelicman.jpg

Only one bus in the yard. It's nearly rusted in two.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0.../thelonebus.jpg

Only one Karmann Ghia, too. Tim (the shop owner) bought it was a project, but I don't think he'll ever do anything with it. The floor pans are completely rusted out.

An old Toyota station wagon. No tag or inspection sticker, so I don't know how long this one's been here. However, I think "a very long time" is a safe bet. This one actually has moss growing on it in spots.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...Toyotawagon.jpg

The interior of above. Apart from smelling moldy and being full of cobwebs and old car parts (it probably hasn't been opened in 25 years), it's amazingly intact. Although it's not visible in the picture, there was even a Styx 8-track still in the player.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...otainterior.jpg

This old (pre-'67) Beetle was cut in half at some point. What's there is pretty intact, though. The front bumper is nearly perfect.

Two old chopped-up Beetle pickup conversions. These things are actually sort of cool.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...etlepickups.jpg

Close-up of one of the pickup beds.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...pbedupclose.jpg

Back when I worked here, I climbed onto the back bumper of this Tempo to get a better view of a car behind it, and it sagged on its suspension and never sprung back up. It remains that way to this day. Inspection sticker says 1998.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...enDownTempo.jpg

I remember this old International Scout V8 running around here when I was a kid, replete with sawzalled wheelwells, Hammerite paintjob, and NRA stickers in the back window. Today it sits dead in this yard with the windows down and strange flora growing in the interior.

A Datsun B210 notchback that apparently caught fire. After dealing with the wiring in my sister's boyfriend's B210, it's easy for me to see why.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...tupinflames.jpg

I'm not sure what this was, but it's lying on its roof.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...fuckwasthis.jpg

Only one non-air cooled VW in the yard, and it's this old Scirocco.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...oolerveedub.jpg

An old White mail truck.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...4/mailtruck.jpg

Rear of the same. Tag is from 1979.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0.../mailtruck2.jpg

Late '60s Olds 98 2 door that was T-boned long ago.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...boneddrolds.jpg

I've posted this Chevelle SS and its story before (24368), but here's a front view.

some cool pictures man. Sounds like a cool/creepy place. Tempo pic doesnt work for me though. The "Tuff Truck" would appear to be factory. I remember a silver one from when I was little.

Some local retarded guy used to bang around in this car, which was harvested from this junkyard and a bunch of old parts Tim had. After it expired again, he gave it back to Tim and bought my old Volvo, which he has since all but completely destroyed. The wheels on this car are the original ones to my truck....no joke.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...mpsoldBuick.jpg

A Mazda MPV. It's unusual to see one of these rusting away with mostly older iron, but this one got an early start: It's been here since 1998.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...aMPValldone.jpg

The oldest vehicle in the yard, this '54 Chevy was already abandoned here when Tim built this shop in the late '70s.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...4chevytruck.jpg

Another '69'-'70 Chevy truck. Who says only Dodge trucks rust this bad?

Rounding out the tour....

An Olds Omega plays peek-a-boo from under a tree. I can't remember the last time I saw one of these on the road.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...uyoubastard.jpg

The "Row of the forgotten"....cars repaired that have never been retrieved by the owners. The orange type III back there has been there since 1993, the gold Escort since 2004, the red VW Fox since 1999. The white Eclipse is currently undergoing repair, likely won't get left here. The 1960 Chevy Apache is Tim's, he drove it into a creek in 1995 and has never bothered putting it back on the road.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...heforgotten.jpg

Old Detroit iron from a better-kept section of the yard. Whynot Speedway, recently reopened, is in the background. Tim was a champion there in it's heyday, and his son Kyle is the current top driver.

#6, For some reason, the "b" in "broken" has to be lower-case. Try http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...endownTempo.jpg

BTW, in the main picture, that's my old Peugeot parked between the shop and the fence. Tim bought it off of me nearly a year ago with the intentions of getting it running and never did anything with it. Likely it will be sucked into the gaping maw of his boneyard, joining all the other lost metallic souls.

I wondered just recently if ten years from now some dippy college kid will get a part-time job at the shop and jump on the Peugeot's rear bumper, or take photos of it to post online.

#10, The orange type III Volkswagen wagon I mentioned in #8. Behind that is the row of "current" cars that are next in line for repair. This line-up changes frequently, although I photographed a couple of them and will be submitting them as separate "Car" and "Truck" pictures in just a moment.

#11, That's wierd. I have never thought about that. I wonder if my kids will take a picture for the internet with the caption "one of dad's old cars, a 1997 Monte Carlo, and the truck in the background he got when he was 16, a 1998 Dodge Ram. You don't see those on the road much anymore; word has it the transmissions were crap."

Three pictures that I missed posting yesterday:

A rolled over bug. This one is pretty typical of the cars in the yard, though it looks like it was a pretty bad accident. I wonder what the details of it were. In any case, it's parked near the Chevelle, VW bus, and T-boned Olds, and that whole section of the yard goes back to the late '70s.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...badaccident.jpg

A Mazda RX-3 wagon that appears to have some front frame damage.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...zdaRX3wagon.jpg

A 1979 Ford Thunderbird that's been parked since 1989 with the driver's door open. I remember seeing this car in the yard when I was little and looking it over, but now the weeds have nearly completely consumed it.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...resomewhere.jpg

Finally, this time that's all the pics.

Since these photos were taken, he's actually sold the Karmann Ghia, and the Isuzu "Tuff Truk" has disappeared as well.

A yellow 1973 Cougar on the "Row of the forgotten" that had been parked since 1989 (never photographed it) was also picked up out of the blue by its owner about two years ago....naturally 18 years had done some damage to the car, but he was apparently ready to do something with it. Also, the gold Escort wagon I photographed was picked up by its owner after three or four years.
