GT40... engine options under consideration for production are 5.4L DOHC supercharged V8, 6.8L V10, or 6.8L V12. All of these are being built by Roush Racing. And Ford has promised that whatever ends up in it, it will be faster than the Viper.

WEll I'm debating between a VR4 and R/T, so what do you think? I also hear they have oil pressure problems, my friend has a regular 3000 GT w/ shit done to it.

K i'm gonna leave it at this, This car kicks ass and so does the M5, and if you were to compare the 2 the M5 would win, from what I think! so thats all i'm saying.

And as for the Venom factor, Saleen will undoubtedly redo the GT40 to sick levels. Plus, even if the GT40 doesn't end up with as much horsepower as the Viper, bear in mind that, judging from the prototypes, it should be much more aerodynamic than the Dodge.

The VR4 and the R/T are the same cars.. cept diff. body style.. Id like a VR4 myself.. but wouldn't want to put up w/ the probs ive heard some people have.

Keep in mind, production usually is NOT like the prototypes. It's usually slightly slower/worse/however you want to put it.

You know, I see a problem with both of our arguments. We're making judgments based on cars that aren't in production yet, and we don't know what kind of power they'll end up packing. The Ram SRT is a straightforward retaliation to the Lightning, and if you think Ford won't up the ante with the next model of Lightning, you are living in denial. And Dodge will probably come out with a Viper to beat the GT40, and then Ford will retaliate with an even faster GT40. See? Competition is good... we end up with faster cars!

And Hatin', keep in mind that the Mustang is soon to be no longer Ford's top model. Odds are that they WILL have a Saleen GT40 making 800 horsepower.

AC, go for the VR4, in the later years it got all sorts of goodies that the R/T got left without. They were never really equal, the R/T's kind of a scaled down version.
