One of the few cars from lesser marques that took on the "Big 3" in the 50's , and won. When the late 50's economy went soft, Rambler was one of only 2 companies that offered smaller less well appointed cars that sold on their low cost mostly, and had sales INCREASES over those years. Studebaker had it's lass hurrah around this time with the Lark. Everyone else was losing sales/money, of note, Ford, who released the Edsel and got burned big time.

The basic look - the color combination, stance, wheels, and even the painted bumpers - is fine. It's some of the smaller details that detract from it, though: The steering wheel, the louvred hood, the shaved door handles, and the goofy little billet side mirrors.

This is a giveaway car benefiting a local shelter for battered and homeless women and children. I don't care for a lot of what was done to it, but it's for a good cause. The depressing thing is, in choosing a unique car for the build, they've limited their market. Hardly anybody entered to win the car, likely because it's a grey Rambler with a Ford engine, not a red '65 notchback Mustang or a blue '69 Camaro SS or something else cliched but desirable to the average person.
Some woman walked up and asked the representative what the prize was, when the car had "WIN ME!" stickers all over it. *sigh*
