I still like these goofy things for some reason. I suppose I think of them as a sort of modern CRX.

#1, I think of them what they actually are... a direct replacement for the Tiburon... sporty, stylish, and just enough silliness in the design to stand out. ...and in the process, they made it EXTREMELY practical.
I, personally, wouldn't own one, because I hate Hyundai's current styling motif (much prefer Kia's, by a huge margin), but that's all subjective. I respect it for being a damn fine, sporty little hatchback.

I *almost* got one. This color, too. Shame my dog can't fit in it :( I mean, he can, but its a bit of a squeeze :(

I test drove a new 2019 Veloster today while getting my scheduled service done on the Genesis. They had four new ones on the lot...red and dark grey base models, and black and white Premiums. Unfortunately all automatics, but the dealer told me it would be "no problem" to get a manual base (Premiums are automatic only). I test drove the dark grey base, with a grey interior with some rather attractive blue trim and stitching. I was pretty impressed.

#4, I love the new 2019 styling....it's sleeker and less awkward than the previous Veloster, though still different enough to stand out. There's a lot of cargo space, the seats are comfortable, and the driving position is terrific (though there is, as expected, a huge rear-side blind spot). The instrumentation is spot on. The ergonomics are complicated and way too "digital" for my liking, though that's to be expected from a modern car. My only major complaints are the 2.0 engine is completely gutless at lower rpms, and the automatic transmission does NOT want to downshift. The automatic, of course, wouldn't be an issue if I bought one, and the lack of low-end grunt could be solved by stepping up to a Turbo R, which is amazingly only about $3000 more than the base model.
I still need to double check what type of payment I can afford, but I *may* be buying a new car at the end of the year.

Awesome. I haven't driven a new one yet. The first gen non-turbos seem a little.. not "slow" but doesn't feel as peppy as a Focus. I preferred it over a Scion iM though, not that that's saying much. The main deal-breaker for me, is the impractically of not being a true four-door, though I suppose that's why you'd get an Elantra GT.

#5, Ultimately it didn't happen, since I bought that 2017 Elantra Sport instead, which was the same car from the middle forward.
It was a good car. I wish it had met a better fate.

#8, I think at this time, the GT moniker just meant the hatch. I don't know if you could get the 1.6T in the Elantra GT back then?
