Description:
Mercury Colony Park Wagon

Didn't occur to me at first, but, the conditions I took the picture under make it look like a still from a forgotten mid-80's comedy film.

All that's missing is John Candy, a couple stereotypical prepubescent kids he can't control, and a dirty scheme by the local land baron to bulldoze the neighborhood ball field and put up a shopping mall.....

.... all of which is dependent on Uncle Eustace's long-lost will not turning up in the next 48 hours, like that would ever happen, resulting in a madcap chase through the streets in this car to get to probate court before noon.

#2, I'm imagining it ends with this car full of dents, dragging a bumper, spewing prop steam, and surrounded by stereotypical black and white police Caprices on the steps of the courthouse.... and one of the kids meekly saying "I wettums"

#3, HAHAHA... Would there be any other cars on the wagon's tail, or would it simply drive crazily smashing into stuff, driving through yards and other hoonery?

#4, It would eventually come to that.... but, it would start innocently.... the house handyman (secretly on the land baron's payroll) has been trying to find the will all film long, he's the first one to get involved, probably chasing them in something befitting the character of the roughneck goon... like a Chevy C/K pickup, and after HE tries running them off the road, they resort to "we'll have to lose him" mode..... and the rest is comedy gold.

#5, hmmm.. I think being a late 1980s/early 1990s film, a 1980-1986 F-150 extended cab, in maroon/white two-tone with steelies and period correct center-hubcaps, like this.

#6, Whatever he's driving, you just know they're going to waste it in the process somehow.... like de-roofing it under a truck trailer or ramping it into a pond.

#7, since its a truck, I imagine them trying to take an off-road "shortcut" and end up wrecking somehow.. Maybe trying to cut through a creek or stream, and end up sinking/crashing into the streambed and failing to get out?

I envision something involving a body of water or a porta-potty. Because poop jokes. And probably a door falling off as the baddie climbs out unscathed but wet or dirty and shaking his fist shouting some harmless, kid-friendly insult.

And at the end of the movie, his limo gets crushed by a bulldozer

#10, It also changes year. For most of the movie, it's a 1976 Fleetwood 75, but when it gets run over, it's suddenly a 1974 that clearly has no engine.

#11, Being acutely aware of visual differences in various car model years has taken me out of many movies and TV series.

One-hour drama TV series from the past 20 years, it was always jarring to me when the baddies would be in relatively new Escalades/Yukons/Suburbans, but if one has to be crashed and/or blown up, suddenly it's an older generation one from five-ten years prior.

Hell, even a classic like Beverly Hills Cop, the first police car seen goes from being a downsized Gran Fury, then, when it does a high-speed reverse J-turn out of the alley, it's suddenly a prior-generation "big body" Gran Fury.
