#2, Volvo was well, methinks, given how many I see in Portland/Seattle. That or an Outback.

#2, Definitely one of Subaru's more rugged models, I think, like a Forrester or an Outback.
The Southeast would be a Chevrolet Z-71 with a lift, I know that much.
