It really does piss me off that, at one point, America was dabbling in forced induction moreso than a majority of the rest of the world... Ford, GM, hell, even reeling-from-bankruptcy Chrysler was!

But, unfortunately, the lowest-common-denominator American public, with their knuckle-dragging "no replacement for displacement" mindset, wanted nothing to do with them, on average. Damn shame.

We could have stayed on the cutting edge of technology and performance... but the bean-counters and a "well, that's good enough" mindset damn near destroyed the domestic car industry over the next few decades...

And then along came EcoBoost.

#2, Well, to be honest, that was partly Ford Europe, as well...

...yes, the domestic automakers are getting back into forced induction, but now we're just catching up, rather than being in a leading position.

I would argue that even now, Americans are terrible at factory FI.

#4, Oh, God, yeah... another technological embarrassment... how long did we stick with carburetors when the rest of the first-world had moved on?

#5, Well the last carburated vehicle sold in this country was an Isuzu, and the last in the world was a Suzuki.

#4, Are you talking about fuel injection or forced induction?

#7, both :P

mainly turboing, though.

Although, considering I have small-displacement turbo, it seems that in traffic, to keep it in the powerband, required shifting goes like this.

1-2-3-2-1 for stop and go driving.
