i'm workin on gettin it... i want to find a complete chevy 3/4 or 1 ton so i don't have to get a buncha crap. basically, i want to get the 454/th400/np205/60/14 bolt combo in one package for $1000-$1500
i'd settle for a sm465/np205 combo tho ;) |

Chevy motor? Why? That's so boring. Not to mention what it would do to your weight distribution. |

Chevy bocks, escpicaly the 5.7 are sometimes called "Belly Button" engines, cuz' everyone it seems has one, I think they get used a lot in swap-in applications becuase the oil pan sump/pickup are to the rear, so it won't get in the way of suspention components, plus parts are ubiquitous for SB chevies |

How much more weight will that add?? I always thought that BB's didn't weigh much more than a SB, it was all in the bore and stroke sizes, or am I off in the wrong corner again? |

the owner of this jeep had a 68 galaxie 500. he dropped in a 454 and was able to spin the rubber off the rears. |

Low-Tech there's a reason why theyre distinguished as big and small blocks. the BBs do add a significant amount of weight. if you're going from a SB to a BB you'd probably want to upgrade the suspension to compensate for the added weight. |

Probably at least one to two hundred pounds difference. |

Look under the hood of any small-block musclecar from about '67-'72. You'll see a vast, empty space and a small, forlorn-looking engine sitting there, looking like it's about to die of loneliness. That's because these cars are designed to accomodate big-blocks. Funny story: the Ford Boss 429 was such a big engine that it wouldn't fit in the Mustang. So one of the "modifications" that took place at Kar Kraft when they modified the 'Stangs to put the engine in was a "precision adjustment" on the shock towers with a sledgehammer. Really. |

Another scenario, my Dad's 88' Camaro had a V6 in it, since these had to be big enough to take up to a 350, there was enough room in there to fit a couple extra passengers. My Dodge was the same way, the biggest truck mill you could get in 78' was a 440, but with a 318 in it, I actualy would sit inside the compartment on one of the fenders to work on it, that was really convenient if it was raining |

Didn't have as much power from the factory as it should have, but that's easily solved with a new carb and cam. |
