Our IT consultant reluctantly accepted VW's buyback of his diesel Jetta Sportwagen... he was seriously considering getting one of these to replace it...
...in the end, the dealer made him a really good deal on a Jetta GLI... with a manual transmission. He loves it. He said he hasn't driven a stick-shift car in decades, but it all came back to him.
My friend works at a VW dealership. He told me they currently have something like 60 TDIs crowding the lot from the buyback program and it's making customer car storage difficult for the service department. I don't know how many will be "fixed" and how many will just be crushed. This whole Dieselgate debacle reeks of bureaucratic bullshit to me.
