This apparently has an almost identical interior layout as his '13 128i convertible, which was a major reason this car interested him. He LOVES the gobs of power... and it has an enormous sunroof, which suits his tastes for open-air driving.
...and, I said "added", because he didn't trade anything in for it. His Northern Fleet now totals seven cars. ('57 DeSoto, '70 Caddy convertible, '81 Corvette, '97 LHS, '02 Cabrio, '07 Pacifica, and this) |

Strange that he kept the Pacifica. What role will it play now that he has this? |

Wait. Does it have the M-Sport pack? It's odd to see these wheels on an xDrive. |

#2, If you ever saw my dad's homes, you'd understand. He really, REALLY has trouble parting with something if it still has a use, even if that use is simply to be looked at. (His houses are full of vintage clocks, pocket watches, typewriters, pinball machines, slot machines, jukeboxes, musical instruments, etc.)
It appears this X1 will essentially be his all-purpose daily driver. The Pacifica if he has a need for hauling more than the Bimmer can hold. The Cabrio for when he wants total open-air driving (plus it has ridiculously low miles). The 'Vette, DeSoto and Caddy as essentially classic cars to "tinker" with and just enjoy aesthetically...
The LHS... I think he can't bear to part with it since, in his view (and mine) it's one of the most beautiful domestic sedans to come out in the last 30 years... and sometimes you just need a low-slung highway cruiser. ...and to him, it still has value as a car, despite what Kelley Blue Book thinks. Besides, in 4 years it's eligible for classic car plates/registration/insurance... |

#17, I dunno how well they do on hills. The ones I've ridden in/had experience in.. hills aren't their strong suit. |

I would recommend the Buick Encore, since the one my mother got seems OK, but it's probably not as "cavernous" as he has in mind. And come to think of it, they don't really ride all that smoothly, either.
But an Enclave, maybe?
