Consoles really seem to breed some of that sort of fanaticism. After all, after you sink a lot of money into getting one console and the games for it, you don't want to have to buy another console for a couple of years. You want all the good stuff to come to your platform, if possible.
That's one reason that I mostly waste money on my PC--we get the good leftovers from most every platform. We have to wait a while, yes, but that, and some of the killer PC games out there, make it worthwhile.

As to why the console guys want games to come out EXCLUSIVELY for their platform of choice, I give up.

I mean, each console seems to have its own good stuff, and I can understand keeping some characters/games (generally made or sponsored by a specific platform manufacturer) as exclusives for certain consoles (i.e. Gran Turismo on PS, the Mario games on Nintendos, etc.), but it's better if third-party developers can port their games to as many platforms as possible, without resorting to the "exclusive" BS if they can avoid it.

my console expereance with this generation:
PS2: some really great games, build quality sucks
Xbox: some really great games, nice graphics, Halo 2!!!!
Gc: good little system needs more games, nintendo made games are good as usual

That's pretty much what I'd say, but low build quality with the PS2 is really nothing new--my sister's PSX suffered optical drive failure and had to be replaced..

#76, That's a sign that the developer is maturing in their art design--it's easy to achieve great detail with a high poly count, but low-poly modeling is hard to do right. It's also shows progress in graphics engine development--oftentimes, it's a sign that the engine is using less overdraw.

Odd how these consoles can ignite flame wars that are usualy reserved for Mustang v. Camaro or Domestic v. Import arguments, I just don't get it, it's a freaking VIDEO GAME! if you use THAT to measure your manhood, you got ISSUES!
