Quick man, get down to the Dodge dealer and order the Dodge Challenger JH23J and don't tell your folks, they'll take your trust fund! The one they wanted you to go to college with. FOrget about that, be a young Sam Posey! Hell, he's already young, be a YOUNGER Sam Posey! Read those books about racing and then take the car home and the first time you drive it, you'l know the real deffinition of DOdge's Scat Pack. YOur folks are gonna scream so loud, you'll have to pack and scat!

But man oh man, what a boss set of wheels. Just a word of advice though, don't go for any of those wild colors. None of this high-definition Green or International Distress Orange, think for a sec. If, and that's a pretty big IF, you are ever let back to any family meetings after you buy this car, you may someday have to take Grandma to her bridge club meeting, or SUnday tea, and see what happens to your Christmas gifts if you show up in some Post Nuclear HOlocaust Green. Besides, tell Grandma it's a limited edition, Ford built over 300,000 Mustangs last year, DOdge is only making 2,500 or more of these. So one day it'll be collectable, like her dining room set. ANd tell her it's got a small V8, So mileage is good, right. Fuel economy? pally, when you gonna catch on? Cool your jets, this thing IS a jet!

What about the mill? OK, it's no racer, but it's got good potential, and Dodge already
did some good things. The block has been stress relieved and they built extra iron into the main bearing area so you can use four bolt mains. (Get your buddies at the local Speed
Shot to do it) THe heads have speicaly machined and the ports are offset, all the better to polish. THe rods are longer and have these new ends that fit the adjusting screws in the rockers, just like the HEMI. Tappts are hydraulic, so keep it under 6500 ok? and best of all, three Holleys sit on top of a new aluminum Edelbrock manifold, makes 290 horses at five grand. SUck the doors off a Z28 at a quarter mile, with a mere 1150 cfm!

Have I made my point yet? You WANT this car. The tranny? Oh, yeah, more good stuff. You can get a Torqueflite, but tell Grandma that standard is more economical. I'ts a new close-ratio four speed, smoother than anything yet from MOPAR. ANd it's got a Hurst pisol grip shifter. A little long in the throw, but you can live with that. No more charley horses after a night of cruising.

ANd the suspention and tires really work. You've riden with friends with the "STangs and "Cudas that slip off into the weeds. CJ's and HEMIs are heavy, and they're built for the quarter anyway. This one will go around the corners, not through them. Just drive into the corner and work your foot on the throttle like you do your wah-wah pedal, nose in, tail out, just like at the dirt track.

And wait till you see this machine! The designers put enough bells and whistles on her to intimidate the weak, stun the brave and outrage the War Department. Yeah, buckeats seats and a big tach' right were it belongs.

And the sound! It's more than listening to Jimi Hendrix at max on the dial. Dual sidepipes, just like the Vette', but these aren't straight, they're trumpets! Fine sound, take it to that tunnel downtown sometime at about five grand, you'll blow out windows for blocks. THey'll think it's the big one!

So, here's what you do. Take about $4100 and buy this car. Then go buy a book on race driving, the go up to Mulholland and show the Porsches a thing or two about road cars. And when you've won a few races, be sure to call me and tell me how glad you are you bought this car. ANd if you don't like it, keep it in your garage for your kid, and have HIM call me.....
