There is an Editor who writes for the British mag EVO who just built up a $70,000 Rover-based TVR V8 Capri for track days.

This would appear to be a "Mercury" Capri. The European counterparts were badged as Fords, while the ones sold through Lincoln-Mercury dealerships in the U.S. were badged as "Capri".

Top of the line powerplant was a V6. Too bad. It meant that Opel/Vauxhall Mantas were slower, and I love them.

#4, I'm guessing that America didn't get the V6. FoMoCo usually screwed us whenever they gave us European Fords on a limited basis...always sticking us with the weaker powerplants. >:(

Little trivia. The wheels on these were also used on Triumphs, and MGs are were widely used by British market sporty car as they were cheap to cast and buy. If you look at an MGB, you will see the wheels are identical in all but centercap.

#5, IIRC most of the ones sold in the US had V6s.

#7, Strangled to 109 hp from the Euro-spec 138 hp, but still, it could at least manage a 17-second quarter mile.
