#4, Possibly an influence. American cars were a dominant market force in Japan until the early 1970s.

#6, Saw a 1963 Kurosawa movie called "High & Low", which was set in the [then] modern day, rather than being a historical epic... TONS of American iron roaming the streets in that film.

Actually a really decent movie. Its first half was one of the inspirations for 1996's "Ransom", the second half being a police-procedural investigation drama that felt relatively modern, even today.

#7, I saw that one years ago. And yeah, any Japanese movie made prior to the '70s will have quite a few American cars in it, especially GM vehicles.

#8, Ah, finally found the IMDCb page for the film; it was under its Japanese title. https://www.imcdb.org/m57565.html

The main vehicle the detectives use is a rather tasty '60 Dodge Dart. https://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_32071...oenix-1960.html
