One thing that they definitely screwed up in Driver 2 was the atmosphere. The first game was like a bad 1970s cop show, complete with "wikkawikkatwangtwang" music. The second game turned into this seedy, blues music Quentin Tarantino movie, with all the characters speaking in overly serious, melodramatic dialogue. That really bothered me.

I always did that, too, CRX. I figured out what every car in both games most likely was. For example, your cars in the four cities of the first game were

Miami: '72 Chevelle
San Francisco: '66 Nova
L.A.: Some sort of a big sedan. Buick Electra 225, maybe?
New York: '68-'72 Nova.

Driver 2 was a LOT harder to identify the cars in.

#24, If you can overlook the frustratingly laughable cop AI, then yes it does....

#26, How many cops do you know will try to end a pursuit by head-on dives into the lane your driving in making a combined collision speed of 160+ mph?

Well...I've had this game since it came out now...so I've played it quite a bit. I must say, I really DO like "Test Drive" a LOT. It's a fun "pick up and play" arcade racer, and multiplayer is quite fun too. I've completely beaten it and unlocked everything. I love how you can paint the car any color you want, even rust brown if you want to. Or you can make your car completely chrome.

I also have Driv3r, which I must say, DOES suck, since they took away the emphasis on driving. The shooting SUCKS...the "Take a Ride" and the Driving Games are the only redeemable features of the game.

I've enjoyed Driv3r overall, but there are cons:

*It's not in the '70s anymore. Laptops? Cell phones? Sobe? Fuck that.
*Way too much emphasis on shooting. Is this Driver or Tomb Raider with cars?
*Weak story mode, completely humorless and nonsensical. To be dealing with "40 stolen cars", you sure don't attempt to obtain many stolen cars.
*Lacking the snappy dialogue of the original game. Even Driver 2 was more quotable.
*Film director mode is fun, but TOO SHORT. There should be a way to cut portions of the replay out. And what happened to the chase camera? It can only focus on the back of the vehicle or spin uncontrollably around it now.

#31, Yeah, I found Film Director mode to be a worse than the previous two...in a "Getaway" Driving Mode, I wasn't able to focus and follow the cop...what's up with that?! In the first two, I LOVED watching from the cop's POV.

I still had fun with Film Director, though. I put together a kickass video of an 18-wheeler rampage in Miami...complete with Terminator 3 style shots of cars being pushed against light poles, a "money shot" of me ramping over a Mustang and landing full-force on top of a Lamborghini Silhouette, and some great scenes of cars flipping into the camera. Not to mention an amusing shot of me de-taching the trailer while 2 cops were chasing me, and it slid into the middle of the road, wedged between two light poles, and blocked their path.
