Description:
1993 Toyota MR2. The scoop in the back is for the engine, which is in the middle of the car. The scoop is functional, as are the scoops on the bottom of the car behind the doors. |

All scoops are functional. The scoop on top is designed to be for both looks and functionality. The side scoops behind the door are stock. |

#5, but what do the side scoops do. that is what Gforce is asking. the roof scoop is for the air intake but what purpose do the side scoops serve other than looks? |

The scoops on the bottom cool the engine, not the brakes. This is a mid-engine car. |

The radiator is still in the front. The air flows from the side scoops to cool the exterior of the engine, and to supply air for the intake. The intake is between the top and bottom scoops. Not many people are familiar with MR2s, I constantly get bombarded with questions I'm used to it.

#13, i may be wrong, but there doesnt appear to be much room for a radiator and all the hosing and stuff required for a liquid-cooled engine |

I figured I would post this car becuase I've never seen an MR2 on this site. The only time I've seen one is, interestingly enough, sitting right next to the number 1 worst ricer on this site: 29602 |

#18, the search brings up 45 results. Most of these results are not pictures of MR2s, but pictures of stickers, drivers, and other cars with the word "MR2" in the description. Besides, most of the pictures that actually have MR2s in them are of 1st and 3rd gens. Mine is a 2nd gen. So the maybe 8 pics of 2nd gen MR2s on this site go unnoticed compared to the other 40,000 pics of Civics, Accords and Eclipses. |

well unless it's air cooled the sides scoops don't really do to much engine cooling thats what the radiator is for. i would think that just using that snorkle for an intake would be more effective for the intake rather than that and side scoops because wouldn't that cause some form of back pressure, also if the air coming in is cooling the engine then wouldn't you be putting hot air into it which would hurt the power of your car ? |
