these things are 1:30 scale lifted 4 wheel-drive off-road trucks, they are powered by two aaa batteries, which drive the electric motor with a very low gear ratio, the motor turns a big gear under the body of the truck, the gear turns two ribbed belts, which run to the front and rear differentials (as can be seen under the blue truck in the picture), resulting in a very slow and very powerful (for its size) toy truck, which can climb almost anything, and go up 45-degree slopes with ease...just look at the suspension, it has a shock at each wheel, and because of a ball-joint design the suspension has great flex up-down and side-to-side, just like a real truck...and they are only 8 dollars...watch the video http://www.4wheelparts.com/4wp/prod...ssories&man=TZI#

i would love to modify one of these things...here is what i would change:
- add r/c support with steering and two speeds
- swap in a stronger motor
- make all the internal and differential gears steel instead of plastic
- use a rechargeable 6-volt battery pack
- use wider tires
then it would completely rule!

i towed a metal 1:18 scale mustang with it on the floor, it looked funny, like a tugboat towing an ocean liner...and i also set up an obstacle course in my cat's litter box, the jeep dug itself in pretty good, but then caught a bit of traction and climbed over the poo hill
oh, and i have a jeep wrangler body that isnt shown in this picture

i took the drive belts off both axles and turned the truck on; then i tried to stop the driving gear with my thumb, but no matter how hard i tried, it would not stop...talk about low gearing!
and i also took the rear drive belt off my jeep and made it fwd ;p

#6, actually, there is no need for steel gears or a stronger motor or even bigger tires, but r/c support wouls kick ass
