The Gama Goat was developed in the late 60's-Early 70's to replace the army's venerable M151 Jeep, which had served nearly unchanged in design since the Second World War. It featured a unique 6x6 driving system with 3 evenly spaced axles on an articulated tractor-trailer chassis.

Though it had great off-road capabilities, it was passed over for replacement by the modern-day HMMWV "Hummer" in the 90's

They could have at least just GIVEN them away to law enforcement agencies in America that are desparate need of more vehicles... like security services for buildings and campus security and crap like that.

#6, That may be a little overkill compared to the usual Metros, Malibus and Rangers.

#5, Maybe, maybe not, among the reasons the army got rid of them were engine reliablity issues. Also, the steering system was not conventional, and required extra training and practice for drivers to get good at.

All in all, pretty interresting vehicle, had a top speed of 55mph, could ford water easily, and the cab and trailer sections (which were permanently attached) could articulate as much as 40 degrees from each other in any direction.
