Maser V8 powered. Looked mid engined 'cause it was going to be... 'til a few months before production started and they decided it would be cheaper to make it front engined.

#2, Sounds similar to the AMC Pacer story...was designed to be FWD with a rotary engine licenced from GM... GM cancelled all plans for a rotary engine mere months before the Pacer was to start production...so AMC quickly redesigned the car to accept a standard AMC RWD drivetrain...only problem, they couldn't figure out how to fit the driveshaft underneath the car... so they widened the car just enough so they had room for the driveshaft... that's why the Pacer was so freaking wide for a compact.

Pretty cool, but a little strange, both in name and appearance.

The front air inlet reminds me of a '78-'79 Camaro Z/28, although this was before then.
