I think 2000+ are only 6 cyl's the GT just has more HP.... i believe... lol i could be wrong the only good eclipses were T4 AWD, the GS-T front wheel drive car can't touch the AWD =-) but those were like 28k Brandnew which is the cost of a camaro SS or WS6 Trans AM |

Incorrect.
The GT's have a 205 horsepower V6, while the GS and RS models have a 2.4L 4 cylinder that gives out around 155 horsepower, which really isn't much.
I hate what they did to the Eclipse. Ruined the lines, turned it into a Pontiac looking thing, screwed over the driveline, and basically turned a sportscar into a car that's too similar to the Honda Accord (2 day) for its own good. (Both have V6's putting out around 200 HP, both FWD, both are nose heavy pigs that are awful with understeer)
The fact that they're bringing over the EVO makes me happier that the 4G63 platform is still alive in the US market, but still... They made it into a "Grand Touring" car which makes all the little auto critics wet their pants because they "grew out" of the old Eclipse....
Grrr.... |

The 3000GT was just too heavy for its own good. That's why they killed it, not to mention the drying up of the "Extreme Japanese sports cars" thanks to SUV's. While they threw as much technology they could at it (AWD, at heart, the 3000GT was still a front wheel drive car), Four wheel steering, and twin turbo's. But, all of this came at a weight of 3700 lbs, when considering over in Japan, they had the four door EVO series pumping out the same horsepower but with MUCH less weight out of a four cylinder.
The new Eclipse resembles a horrible rape of both the 3000GT's styling (Called the GTO over there) and the FTO (the little brother of the GTO, get it?), a small FWD car that was quite similar to the Integra Type R in specs (Had a Variable valve timing system, light weight, etc), which was quite attractive... I hate California design studios. |
