Description:
One of V8 Star cars.
V8 Star was quite like AVESCO, onlz in Europe: tube frame chassis, a V8 and a plastic body with different shapes available. Here we see a "Volkswagen Passat". Other shapes included Lexus, Jag, Opel and others.
The series died for some reason. A shame. |

The series died because they fucked it up with too many rules. Somehow the races were not about racing but about driving behind each other until the mandatory pit stop. Additionally, there was no brand-support. Instead of australian Holden vs. Ford or american Chevy vs. Dodge vs. Pontiac vs. Ford you had... platic thing vs. another plastic thing. Apparently, the old V8STAR cars make decent 24h racers. |

#2, As I mentioned, a shame.
The concept was good, I think: identical cars=cost effective (these things were very fast) and close racing. Something like more modern NASCAR.
Oh well... :( |
