Is it just me, or has the prospect of building a street-legal car for pure acceleration kinda... lost a lot of luster in the past decade or so?

With stuff like the Hellcat Dodges, Cobra Jet Mustangs, and especially the instant-torque performance EVs with AWD, specifically building/tuning an older car to rocket down the dragstrip just doesn't seem to matter as much anymore...

#6, That and the people who love it are dying off :/ Most "new" car guys are either stancebros, Muskrats or donk/brodozers. Ricing, too, and for that matter, tuning isn't as big as it used to be. Here the average car meet is black kids in stolen Hellcats/Scat Packs, stolen E92s/F10s, and rich white kids with 1000+ HP built LS/LT, Terminator Cobras, and Asian kids with youtube money building 600 WHP B/H/J Hondas.

#6, There are still die-hard drag racers, but most "car guys" have moved on to building balanced street versions of their favorite cars, especially vintage models. Who still wants to hack up an A-body Barracuda, and risk stuffing it into a wall? Nobody with sense, for sure.
