The F40 is, and probably always will be, my favorite supercar. Its technical achievements have been surpassed, but I still love it because it's powerful and effective, despite a lack of sophistication. It doesn't have the insane computerized controls and fancy ABS braking systems of modern supercars, it has no interior to speak of, etc. Looks like fun. :)

And it looks great.

That's the other thing I like about it--its appearance is basically in keeping with the street-legal race car theme. Aggressive, yet simple and efficient.

It appears that only Hot Wheels still makes a 1/18 of it, though. :(

They are going to come out with a more detailed version of it, along with others. I had a seen a sample of the F40, it looks way better than their current release, but it's going to be in the $80 range. I had a link but I can't find it. I still want a Black F40, they are super hard to find.

I'm sure you'll post about it when it comes out. :p Their current one isn't very impressive. I'm not interested in collecting a bunch of models, but I would like to get a good 1/18 of my favorite exotic.

I'd like to get my hands on a good diecast of this, doesn't Maisto make one?

#7, Exoto is going to make the F40, F40 LM, F50 and, Enzo. But looking at this price, they ain't going to be cheap. But the detail should be amazing. This was announced about 2 years ago, still no clear release date.

But if you'd like, there is a detailed 1/12 model by Kyosho. But it costs about $400.

#2, Ok Jeremy Clarkson :P

But seriously, the F40 is awesome. I always loved the 288 GTO, and when the found out the 288 GTO was what the F40 was based on, I loved that GTO even MORE ^_^

#10, I do completely agree with him on that one, though. I like simple-but-effective things. :)

I have really become such a huge fan of Top Gear as of late... really. God Bless Google video... and another website (that asks its members not to reveal its name as it's gone private.) just got the first two episodes of the current "revamped" Top Gear (2001, I believe)...and I watched them. Good stuff.

#7, Tada!

Looks a lot better than the regular one, but I still don't get why they didn't make proper pop-up lights.
