Mental image alert:

This car slides into a debris-filled alleyway, the car swaying on its flaccid shock absorbers. Plows over random empty cardboard boxes as it bounds through the alleyway, the undercarriage producing terrific sparks and scrapes every time it hits a bump. I have my left hand on the wheel, steering casually, and I reach down and turn the AM/FM up higher as Average White Band's "Pick Up the Pieces" comes on. I lean far back, drape my right arm across the top of the bench seat, and give it even more gas.

I've played the Driver games way too much. :P

#2, Nah, not until I leave the alleyway. Then a rear one goes skittering when I hang the back end out. :D

I was just playing around in Parallel Lines about an hour ago. Very underrated game....definitely the best one since the original.

#5, Parallel Lines is a fun game, despite the lame plot and retarded AI. Free roam is great.

#6, I liked the plot, I just think the execution left a bit to be desired.

#7, I agree. It had great cars and acceptable handling. It left me wanting more, though, and unlike GTA you can't add content to make it better. At least let players add music tracks for the car's radio or something...
I did like the two distinct eras though, with their own look and feel and period-correct details and buildings.

#8, In retrospect, I replayed this game again a few months ago and was miserable. The police and pedestrians are handled very poorly, aiming from a car is hard (straight ahead or lock-on to whatever, no middle ground), and it always disappointed me that instead of improving upon Driv3r's silly swimming animations (which that game had championed, even making fun of how GTA Vice City didn't have swimming abilities) Ubisoft simply eliminated it. Now if you end up in the drink, the screen goes white and you're back on land dripping water off and complaining about getting wet. The most fun I've ever had in that game was seeing how many police pursuits I could survive with one armored limousine. I think I may have also once won one of the races on "easy" difficulty using a school bus with the biggest shot of nitrous the game offered.
