#6, That's right. The 1968 Dreamweaver utilized the same bodyshell as the Banshee II show car, but it featured a Pontiac 428 block with a single four barrel (HTML) or dual four barrels (CSS). There was talk of tri-power, but Pontiac had phased that out two years prior, and they decided it wouldn't be prudent to be regressive. The interior was largely pilfered from the 1968 Corvette, and they also used Corvette suspension, front and rear.
The HTML model was the basic Dreamweaver, with sold moldings, Rally II wheels, and a 400 hp 10:1 428 four barrel with either a Muncie M20 4 speed or GM's new TH-400 automatic. Supposedly four were built. The CSS model was side trim delete, featured larger Corvette Rallye wheels with special Pontiac emblems engraved, Corvette sidepipes, and an 11:1 428 with dual 4 barrels and a reinforced bottom end, supposedly good for 550 hp. The Muncie M20 was the only transmission, and it featured a Hurst shift linkage. Three are known to have been built. |
