#2, I'm in the same situation, I've been looking for a good wide angle/medium telephoto lens. I'll most likely get this one:

The Pentax 50-200mm is cheaper, but I just want to use one lens right now. I don't want to be swapping lenses for different occasions.

I would love to have the 18-200 Nikon VR lens.. but at 700 bucks, it's gonna have to wait. Most likely the 18-135 one that comes with the D80 kit will suffice in the meantime.
