My uncle was the original owner and began modifying it in 1969. It was originally a 427 with Tri-Power and a 4-speed, which he bored out and customized so much that pretty much only the block was original. It also ended up with a 5-speed transmission. The whole nose was altered and custom made to reduce lift and drag, and he flared the fenders and incorporated a built-in rear ducktail spoiler. He did all the work himself including bodywork and painting. At the time of its sale the car was making 500+ hp and could burn rubber in at least four gears. Even as heavily modified as it was, it still fetched $45,000.

#2, It was starting to scare him because he's in his 60s and it was getting too fast for him. He's now building up his '64 Malibu. I don't know if I can dig up any more pics of the Vette but I have several of the Malibu.

I still wonder what happened to this car. Supposedly the guy who bought it was going to try to restore it to stock. After all that modification, it seems to me like a futile effort and a colossal waste of money.
