#20, washing it definitely helps. Cars here in MN that are washed in the winter seem to survive longer than cars that are never washed. I've seen 2008 Focii rusting already here, because they don't get washed/taken care of in winter.

Bad news bears. I see newer 3s developing rust in the rear part of the rockers. Hell, I've seen a couple Mazda 5s with rust on the hatch below the window, and leading edge of the hood.
