#1, You only know that because it's written on the trunk lid.

The state of modern anime is sad. 90% is either some idol bullshit or Shonen. I want more adult oriented series like we had back in the 80s and 90s OVAs. The 2000s seems to be the sweet spot though. But since like 2011 most series don't pique my interest

#2, To be honest, I didn't even see the "custom" badging. Christ that's bad.

#3, The 2000s being the sweet spot is also a double-edge sword. That was the small gap in time between anime done on actual film, and the mainstream acceptance of HD.

The 2000s "digipaint" era, most anime were natively created in 480p, which means that no true HD will ever exist, only "upscaled" versions. Pre-digipaint, film-based series can always have the original masters re-captured in native HD, and, obviously, by the end of the 2000s, most series were being rendered natively in 1080p+.

One of my absolute, all-time favorites, Azumanga Daioh, will never look better quality than the DVDs. The aforementioned Lucky Star is in the same boat.

#5, With the advent of AI upscaling/restoration, it might be interesting to see people make an attempt with these older works. It's fun seeing YouTubers posting 4K HD historical films from the early 20th century and 1980s car commercials upscaled and digitally restored from VHS recordings.

#6, As long as they do a better job than the AI upscaling Rockstar used for the textures in the "enhanced" GTA trilogy.

I mean, "Guitar Henk?" Did no one notice that?
