from rideroom: after driving it a few more times, I prefer my big aging Buick RM. Sure, the interior of the Marquis is nicer, but the 4.6L feels anemic compared to the LT1 in the Buick. Don't know why, but I actually like the weird soggy ride of the Roadmaster - it seems to handle Michigan potholes better. The brakes and handling on the Marquis are fair-good. Not something I would want to trust on a high speed cruise, but for a pokey driver like my wife, it suits her fine. As long as she is happy...etc etc |

so this is now my daily driver.
Pros: surprisingly good handling - I'm sure the Top Gear boys would be laughing at me right now - but this car handles fairly flat and true. Ride is quite good, though I would prefer air shocks out back. Roomy inside and good for someone of my 6'2" stature. Driving back from the bar at night, I had a few cars tapping their brake lights as they saw me.
Cons: 4.6 is pretty anemic - especially compared to my olde 5.7L LT1 in my dearly departed Roadmaster. Mileage is _almost_ the same - and no, I'm not being a heavy-footed driver with the Marquis. The granny 2.73s out back are great for the highway but I think there is a tendency to goose it to take-off from red-lights. Noticed the same situation with the old Malibu which had 2.23 (?) out back. |

oh yeah, I also like the traction control - it takes some of the fun out of driving (I suppose I could turn it off) - but for Michigan winters, it's a godsend. |
