Description:
This is essentially what will be the 2012 Buick Verano in North America...

Yes, it's on the same Delta II platform as the Chevrolet Cruze, but that's pretty much where the similarities end... the Cruze being a Korean-designed sedan, and the Verano being a German-engineered hatchback that was later resculpted by the Chinese as a sedan.

I've heard a lot of negative kerfluffle regarding this car, and I think it's unwarranted... I think this car looks great, and would add an excellent entry-level option for Buick-GMC dealers... amongst screams of rebadging, I say this and the Cruze are as similar as the Cadillac Catera and '04-06 Pontiac GTO... and at least we're not in the days when there were *FIVE* different versions of the Cavalier with different badges for sale in America...

"Verano" sounds a little like a New York crime family.

#1, also sounds like a Nissan name, to be honest.

I saw a few Cruzes last night. The RS package looks sharp in black.

#2, Introducing the new Nissan Verano, with the styling of a Murano in a compact, Versa-sized package!

Blargh.

So this is an American car, engineered in Germany, styled in China, and named after the Spanish word for "summer"? How multicultural.

#3, XD. That's exactly what I thought of; either that or a Murano convertible. Ack.

I'm not seeing Murano in this... more like a shrunken, kawaii'd Hyundai Equus/Buick Regal cross...
