'80-'82... I know there were some slight aesthetics changed to differentiate the '82, but damned if I can remember what they are.

#1,
Which got me thinking of a hypothetical some time ago.

It's early summer 1970 - and you've got a job at the St. Louis factory - you lucky fuck!. You're 20 years old - and since you're just starting out - you get the menial work that nobody else wants - and for you its carpet fitting the C3.

Your job description is to apply glue to the rear hatch area and to install it. This means spending long hours applying high VOC glue to interior body shell - and crawling into the rear hatch of EVERY car to fit the 3 pieces of carpet. You must exercise care not to get glue onto the finished side of the carpet - nor install the carpet haphazardly - or cover the wiring harness for the rear taillights in glue. There's no air conditioning in your corner of the factory - and its 35c with 86% humidity.

You'll be doing this job until 1982. You'll be 32 by then - and years of back-breaking labour and brain damage from huffing glue have left you with an addiction to hair metal.

Yeah - my story broke down - and I couldn't realistically think of what kind of live I'd live if I was a C3 carpet fitter.

#2, Your hypothetical would have to include a move to Bowling Green for one year.

#1, The only one I can think of offhand is a "Crossfire Injection" badge on the front fender.

#4, Well, yeah.

...or as my dad refers to it as, the Missfire Indigestion system...

#4, After a quick lookup, apparently the 1982's nose badge was unique: The crossed flags were larger and more squared, compared to the 1980-1981 nose badge, which was wider and not as tall. 1982 "Collector's Edition" models carried a variant of the 1982 badge that was set inside a circle....that one is pretty easy to spot.

The Corvette above should therefore be a 1980-1981.

I've always loved this specific body style for some reason.

#7, Me too... but I'm biased for having grown up with one in the family.
