for some reason, these are slowly re-appearing. Most often as Duck-Dynasty-lookalike drivers' beaters.

It's a shame ChryCo nixed these after the AMC buyout... who cares if it might have cannibalized Dakota and Ram 50 sales? It could have grown into its own niche... being simply a Cherokee with a truck-bed, I imagine engineering and tooling costs would be nowhere near as high to update as a standalone pickup.

Really, it was probably a better vehicle than any generation of the Dakota. And I say that as a longtime admirer of Dodge trucks (admittedly, also a longtime admirer of AMC).

Always loved these. I still find it fascinating that like the Cherokee, these are unit-body and not a typical truck frame vehicle.
