This time they properly upsized the 500's styling, unlike the horrifying 500L.

Could do without the preppy douche image behind it.

Still doesn't really do anything for me, but I agree it's better than the 500L.

#2, Its reputation in the years since, the 500X, and its platform-kin Jeep Renegade, has apparently turned out to actually be a terrible, unreliable, surprisingly thirsty little crossover, despite superficially looking nice.

Co-worker of mine absolutely hates her Renegade... and another co-worker currently has one as a rental whilst her car is in the shop, and she hates that one, too.

It's sad how much of Chrysler's reputation has been destroyed over the years by their insistence on selling some of the worst foreign cars the world has to offer under their nameplates.

#5, Their homegrown cars haven't done them any favors, as well... lest we forget the chronic transmission issues in the '90s/'00s, and even the newer LX cars don't have the best reputation. Police fleets learned the hard way, through hits to their budgets, how the Charger was NOT built to last. Every Charger Pursuit in a police fleet was pretty much guaranteed to be on a flatbed wrecker at least once a year.

But, to your point, you're absolutely correct. Rootes Group cars suffered the same as many of their other British compatriots/contemporaries, Mitsubishi has generally been the least reliable of the Japanese makes, Daimler-Benz began their downslide and abandonment of over-engineering around the time they "merged" with Chrysler, and now they've got Fiat/Alfa/Maserati build-quality and reliability integrated into their lineup... still no prevalence of Peugeot/Citroƫn influence yet, but that won't help matters, either.
