#1, You aren't alone, just about everyone felt this was a step down from the predecessor. Actually, less a step down and more like "The goes Grandma down the cellar steps, and into box full of mason jars at the bottom"

#1, I hated them when they came out. I hate them now. It was very satisfying when Top Gear named it the worst car in the history of the world. (The criteria was that it had to be a car that was not cheap, and made by a company that should know better... the runner up was the Peugeot 308.) Hell, even when Top Gear first reviewed this car, they remarked how awful it was, and that even the Hyundai Tiburon was a superior vehicle.

I've always just considered them "meh" vehicles. They're better looking than any current Lexus, though.
